Mile 673-689 Near Lamont Peak to near Chimney Basin Road

We woke up to a hazy sky and a beautiful sunrise. Neither one of us wanted to get up. Dragged our bodies on to the trail at 7am. It was already hot. Fortunately we were on the shady side of the mountain for the first four miles. It was an odd day. We met someone later who said the same thing and heard from others they felt the same way. They felt like they were sleepwalking, going way more slowly than normal. The hiker we talked to thinks it was to do with the haze. We think it has something to do with aliens .

Not much to report today. The first part of the day was quite pretty with large rock formations, pine trees, flowering cactus and other wild flowers. The latter part of the day was going through miles of burnt trees and was quite barren . Today's biggest excitement was when this Hollywood-hungry horny toad let us take multiple pictures of it with the iPhone literally an inch away from its face.
