We were both a little grumpy in the morning despite having slept well, but the scenery soon changed our frowns upside down. The views are amazing. Green grass meadows, mountains all around us, grey granite peaks, wild flowers, ancient pine and spruce trees, marmots .... we are out of the desert and it's fabulous. We are camped at 10,000 ft with the most stunning picturesque views. There is no one else around and we feel privileged to be here. We had hot chocolate after dinner and watched the sun go down over the Great Western Divide. Can't believe we get another 300 miles of this. We really need to take our time going through this section.
Have no cell reception so cant look up tree names. We made up our own for now. If anyone knows the real names there could be prizes! ...Toilet brush pine (2 inch needles, cracked red bark), Long-haired hamster spruce (hamster- sized brushes, light orange peely bark), Gnarly highland cow pine (dark red hairy bark) .
It's the 6th of June today. Happy Birthday Mum!

One of the trees looks like a Bristlecone Pine.
Great blog and pics. Trees, mountains, rocks, deserts, critturs, fauna, beer (and yourselves of course).
