Mile 1555-1578 Near Cory Peak to ridge on Scott Mountains

We were woken in the middle of the night by the smell of smoke! Yikes. But when we got out of our tent to have a look around, the mountains all appeared dark, nothing glowing red.  We went back to bed, albeit a little nervous.

When we woke up this morning the surrounding valleys were cloaked in a pink haze from the smoke.  We still had no clue where it came from and so carried on with our day! Do the PCT with Dumb and Dumber! We guessed there was a bit of north west wind during the night pushing the smoke down from Oregon.

The views were great today and we saw a lot of animals: deer, chipmunk, cattle with cowbells on, humming birds, jays, lizards and naturally, more killer bees.

This time the bee let us eat lunch, it showed up late and didn't bring friends; this bee didn't need no back up, this was one hard ass bee. We ran from our lunch spot.

A very pleasant day, lots of varying scenery and a gentle ridge path. We are cowboy camping (Tracy won) on a ridge with fantastic mountain views. Just keeping our eyes on what looks to be another fire off in the distance. Skies are totally clear tonight.
