Mile 1677-1708 Cook and Green Pass Spring to near Big Red Mountain

Today we walked 31 miles. We also walked out of California and into Oregon. The hiker Persistence took photos of our group at the border and we celebrated with little bottles of tequila and bourbon.

Talking of drugs, Tracy surprised Israh at our first break by making her a real coffee. Her joy was infectious.

In the early evening we had a thunderstorm. We intended to hike 30 miles but we hiked another mile to find a place more sheltered from possible lightning strikes.

We have been experimenting with eating dinner and then hiking a bit further, rather than waiting till camp to eat. Tracy claimed her feet were really upset by this new strategy.

Big Toe Bob: Okay guys, looks like you can knock off now, we've done 28 miles and she's sitting and having dinner, good day's work, see ya tomorrow.

"Ahooooooaaaa" (alarm goes off)

Wait a minute, what's this! Message from brain just in..."Shoes are going back on!" Hey Charlie, call Muriel for me, tell her to put the meatloaf in the oven, and not to wait up, could be a long night. Okay guys, action stations!
