We ended up staying 3 nights in Mammoth in order to avoid heading off into the storm in the mountains. Or that was our excuse.
We rented the condo for just the four of us, myself, Tracy, Delaware Dave and Katie (Boo Boo Kitty Soft Paws... Tracy came up with that trail name after a particularly hard climb for Katie up "Bludgeon me to a pulp mountain"). However when we went to move in to the condo, we had inherited 2 hikers from the previous stay who had no plans to move on. Otter and Guino turned out to be a lot of fun. Guino is ALL about hi energy partying. We had no option. A couple of other hikers popped in to "hang"/do laundry/have showers. This trail is all about going with the flow. Danced, did yoga, had schnapps and hot chocolate. Guino cooked us all sausage burritos for breakfast. Word was spreading about the condo so we (call us fuddy duddy) tried to cap the number of sleeping occupants to 7. Third night was also a lot of fun. We became an odd little family for a few days.
