Woke up in sodden tent. No rain, just the dampness from being in a valley next to the river. Got a late start, on the trail by 8.20am. Tracy noticed that at around 10 am she had cell phone coverage and immediately messages from friends and family started pouring in.... DOMA (defense of marriage act) has been declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. This means that Tracy could, if she wanted, sponsor me for permanent residency. It felt surreal hearing about this in the woods.
Had a couple of long stops beside great mountain views. Went over Island Pass and camped along a river just before Donahue Pass. Katie is still hiking with us after 2 weeks. Just can't shake her. :)
It's my dads birthday tomorrow. Happy Birthday!!! The pic of the tree and mountain is for you!
