Went to the store and grill and had pancakes for breakfast. Bought last minute supplements for our lunches. Didn't get out on be trail till 11 am. Miraculously still hiked 15miles and arrived at our campsite around 6:30pm. It was very hot today and there was a thunderstorm in the early evening which made for some beautifully dramatic skies and a nice sunset.
We are carrying 9 days of food, which, along with the bear canister makes for a heavy pack and a lot of different aches and pains: my right hip, left knee, shoulders and general foot pain, also a nasty looking abrasion on my lower back from the rubbing, which Katie and Dave insist on calling "Trench Back". The scenery is such that I am able to forget the pain for minutes at a time while taking photos.
The four of us made dinner together and talked bear strategy amongst our uninvited guests, the mosquitos. We are still in bear territory but not everything, ie toiletries, fits in the bear cans. We decided to bury them within bags within bags and put them in our backpacks under our sweaty clothes. If you are reading this then we survived. Or at least one of us did to post this blog. I applied face cream before getting into my sleeping bag and noticed it smells like honey..... Night night!
