Mile 2195-2206 campsite near dirt road to Trout Lake

During last night's thunderstorm I arrived at the camp spot minutes before Tracy and selected what I thought to be the best spot; under tree cover and slightly sloped. Now Tracy, as many of you know, has a "thing" about water. If a tablespoon of water comes in a window that would release a flurry of giant towels, a double lock, and possibly duct tape. At the mere hint of a cloud in the sky she will get her waterproofs at the ready. So I was surprised when she snubbed my campsite choice for a flat spot that she preferred, stating she wouldn't be able to sleep unless she was on flat ground. In her defense, her water-induced panic state may have affected her judgement. In the middle of the night it we realized our tent was being slowly consumed by a giant puddle, soon-to-be pond. We had to move everything. Not fun.

It rained heavily all night and continued all morning. John had his tent collapse on him twice as the puddles grew and rendered his stakes useless in the mud. It didn't look like it was going to stop so we packed up and walked in the mist and rain without stopping until the nearest road 12 miles further on. The trail became a stream as we walked and so I gave up trying to avoid the water and just sloshed through it. We were hoping to hitch to Trout Lake, but the only people who stopped were hunters and not going our way. Bryce's mom was there to supply him with food so she took as many hikers as the car would fit. Bryce then arranged with the amazing owner of the general store to have a hiker come pick us all up in her massive truck. Thanks!!!!!

This all took a while since the town was 20 miles away, so to keep warm we (about 10 hikers ) huddled in the bathroom entrance way at the roadside and danced to tunes on Katie's fablet.

Unfortunately I don't have many photos from today as I had my camera packed away for protection.

Anyhoo, all 10 of us packed into the huge car and arrived at the general store. All hotels are full because of some wedding but the store owner got on the phone and ......
she found all of us accommodation at Jonah Ministries just a half mile away. The people here are fantastic. They have a boys and girls dorm, they let us use their giant sports hall to dry out our tents, we've had showers and are currently doing laundry. They also provided us with food. So nice! There is a pub up the road and I've already had a little game of basketball in the hall. What a day!!!!! Xxxxx

P.S. In the interests of fairness, from Tracy's point of view, the campsite I chose was "EXTREMELY" sloped.
