Mile 2227-2253 Mosquito Creek campsite to Killin Creek campsite

We planned to hike 26 miles today. Took our first break on a bridge and our second at a road where the sun actually reached us so we could dry out our sleeping bags and use the solar panel. We eventually made it out of the trees and saw spectacular views of Mount Adams, Mt St Helen's and Mount Rainier for the first time. We walked over lava fields and meadows. I took lots of pics of Mount Adams until I couldn't look at its snow-covered top anymore because it made me think of powdered donuts.

A keen section hiker who just started hiking Washington talked to us about a Sawtooth view side trail he'd taken. Tracy and I later remarked to each other that in the beginning we were just as keen, but now unless its the PCT trail and going to Canada, we're just not interested.

Hiker: So there's this 2 mile alternate to see a three-colored lake.
Me and T: Not interested.
Hiker: Hey there's the oldest known American Indian cave painting just two tenths west of the PCT.
Me and T: Not interested
Hiker: Hey guys, I saw a handful of cheese puffs on the ground about a mile off trail.
Me and T: We're there!
